With the gradual phase-out of Basic Authentication in Microsoft 365, Microsoft is switching the authentication of IMAP, POP3, and SMTP to OAuth 2.0. However, many existing applications, services, or devices still only support Basic Authentication – which can lead to connection issues with Exchange Online.
